Occasionally, I help out remote friends and relatives with troubleshooting computer issues. A free service from LogMeIn was my go-to application for years, but this has changed now that LogMeIn has stopped offering a free service. Since I couldn't find an obvious way to delete my LogMeIn account, I just stopped using the service.
I was reminded that I still have an account at LogMeIn when Russian hackers tried to break into it (unsuccessfully according to the audit records). I visited the site again, but could not find a way to request closing my account through the site. After some searching on the site, I was advised to contact customer support via e-mail. The support representative clarified that I had to confirm my e-mail address before the account can be deleted. This feels like an awkward and not really secure way of terminating accounts. Wouldn't it be easier for both LogMeIn customer support and the users to provide a way to close their accounts, simply using the profile manager functions on the LogMeIn website?
